As the preparations for Nigeria’s next general election gathers momentum, over 20 young Presidential Aspirants has so far expressed their interest to contest for the Presidential seat in the 2019 elections. It is however believed that the multiplicity of the number of persons vying for the number one job will be the first hurdle and a major disadvantage to the clamour for youth governance in Nigeria.
The Young Visioneers’ Association of Nigeria speaking through its National President, Ezekiel Temitope Oladimeji during an interview in Ibadan, Oyo State advised all such young presidential aspirants to join forces and come together to achieve a common goal which should be to ensure that a young person emerges as President in the 2019 presidential election.
He further urged all Nigeria youths to remain united and steadfast in pursuit of their desired objectives more so as the country can only have one President at a time therefore it is advisable that while the focus is to make a unified choice of who should be Presidential Candidate on behalf of Nigeria youths, it is necessary to put more effort and energy in achieving the same feat for other leadership positions in the Country’s political space including contesting for positions in the National and State Assembly as well as Gubernatorial positions in their various constituencies and states.
He stated in conclusion that to have a better Nigeria, we do not only need a proactive President but also competent lawmakers and capable young intelligent people to serve in the Presidential cabinet. It is therefore imperative that the youths give room for a harmonious dialogue because a stitch in time saves nine.
